EAA Airventure Oshkosh 2018

We didn’t plan on going to AirVenture this year due to family summer vacations, work loads, and other commitments.  But who can resist?  The night before we were leaving for Knott’s Berry Farm California I decided we weren’t going to miss Oshkosh, oven if we only get to spend one day there.  So at 10pm we started searching flights, hotels, and rental cars like pros.  As you can imagine there wasn’t much available but with some smart thinking we ended up getting great priced flights into Madison, WI, a rental car from the Turo app, and a hotel rooom just a hop over the lake in Chilton, WI.   Nothing was quite ideal but it all worked out in the end.

We landed in Madison around 8am, Ubered to the rental pick up spot and picked up our fancy little Ford Fiesta.  We were at AirVenture by 10am!!  First stop, the innovation building, man I love seeing the hard work and dedication of creative minds.  Have you heard of the WingBug?  Pretty sure we’ll be picking one up soon and testing it out.  Next we made our way to the Warbird area.  Found the good old P-40K Aleutian Tiger that our very own Brandon and Justin restored at Fagen Fighters Warbird Museum.  They also blessed us with the presence of my favorite bird in their fleet the B-25 “Paper doll”.  After lunch I met up with John McBean at Kitfox and googled over his display while Brande chatted with Debra McBean.  John offers so much encouragement for us we are very grateful for his kind support.

Later we met up with Marlowe with Fagen Fighters, who was ever so kind enough to drag us around in his golf cart all day and it was off to the Ultralight and Light Craft fun flying area.  It was so great seeing all the STOL light sports playing around, the UL’s having fun, and it was so cool seeing 40 powered parachutes floating in the sunset.  We can’t wait to have one of our F series planes flying there next year.  After some dinner and a couple drinks at the SOS Brother’s tent we were out of gas and made our way to the hotel.

Day 2 was all about the technical stuff.  We’re specifically looking for new suppliers to partner up with that will make our lineup even better, and that we did.  We are so excited about what is to come and can’t wait to share our experience with all of our fans.  The guys at Lincoln Electric were more than hospitable and made us feel extra special with their support and customer service.  I can’t wait to fire up our new Square Wave TIG 200 ;).

Al in all we met some great people, connected with some awesome suppliers, and had an amazing time.  I have a feeling AirVenture 2019 is going to sneak up on us before we know it.  Until then we’ll be hard at work and hope to see you at some other fly-ins!

Dream big,

Chris

Trip to Kitfox

Had the opportunity to visit the Kitfox Aircraft manufacturing facility this week. It was great to meet with John McBean. He was very kind and had some awesome professional motivation to share.  John has built an amazing facility scale by scale that any builder/manufacturer would dream of having.

If you’re ever near Homedale Airport, ID  (S66) stop by and say hello.

Keep an eye out for us, more to come soon.
